Abstract: The intensification of hypercommodification in professional journalism has coincided with news organizations growing dependence on platform logic, and this trend has intensified as artificial intelligence (AI) enters newsroom routines. The rise of AI raises a distinct concern, particularly about the declining quality of information in new media. This study examines how the hyper-commodification of professional journalism interacts with the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and affects the quality of journalistic content. We used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyse 50 articles published between 2021 and 2025, indexed in the reputable Scopus and SINTA 2 databases, selected through a systematic screening process. The findings indicate that hyper-commodification, driven by reliance on high digital metrics, audience engagement, and production pressures, can diminish the quality of journalistic content. AI adoption can reinforce commercial priorities by accelerating content production and shaping news distribution patterns through algorithms. The interplay between these processes has significant implications for journalistic professionalism and the quality of information available to the public. The study's novelty lies in integrating hyper-commodification, AI adoption, and journalistic content quality into a unified analytical framework for understanding how commercial and technological pressures are reshaping contemporary journalism.
